About
The Sicilian Farmer is an innovative farm business established in 2020. Specializing in cold-hardy garlic production using sustainable growing practices, we follow organic standards (although not presently certified). Our farm is the key to our larger food business model, which consists of retail and culinary components. We opened our first retail farm store in 2023 and will be launching our farm-to-table wood fired mobile pizza trailer in 2024. This winter we will be focusing on value-added production of farm products including canning and frozen meal production for wholesale and direct-to-consumer markets.
General Description

Basic Job Duties
- Haul and spread manure, fertilizer, mulch and other materials to condition and protect soil, using wheelbarrows, hand tools and tractor drawn equipment\
- Form and sow seeds into seedling blocks, transplant nursery stock or direct seed into fields
- Set up and operate irrigation equipment, using sprinklers and watering cans
- Inspect and weed garden beds, reporting indication of pests activity to farm supervision
- Harvest fruits, vegetables and hay by hand, or using specialized equipment
- Participate in the cleaning, inspecting, grading and sorting of crops
- Load agricultural products into storage racks, coolers and trucks for delivery
- Organize, clean and sanitize all work production areas
Please note this is not an exhaustive list of all job duties. For workers with sufficient experience and interest level, the work may also include construction and fabrication activities, the maintenance of buildings and equipment, the operation of heavy machinery as well as supervisory duties.
